FDA fines probiotic firm for 7th time this year over kidney disease ads The Food and Drug Administration has fined a probiotic seller 4-million N-T so far this year for repeated violations over advertisements falsely claiming that the product could "reverse kidney disease." It seventh time the company has been fined this year. According to the F-D-A, the Huo Hua Sheng probiotic product been ordered to remove the offending (違法的) advertisements, while its endorser, nephrologist Chiang Shou-shan, has been referred for disciplinary action. The F-D-A says the product and Chiang have appeared frequently in television and other media advertisements promoting purported health benefits and making exaggerated (言過其實的,過度的) claims that the probiotic could treat or reverse kidney disease.
